Lexicon created the name Muse for Meta Superintelligence Labs’ personal AI agent, built to help people pursue their goals, create what they imagine, and take action on what matters most.
Problem
Naming a personal AI agent is especially challenging because the category is extremely crowded, the technology is moving faster than the language around it, and the stakes for getting it wrong are higher than less personal AI tools. A name that feels too robotic triggers unease. A name that promises too much invites backlash the moment the product falls short.
Meta needed something that could hold an entirely new kind of relationship between a person and an AI that knows them, works for them, learns from them, and gets sharper over time. Unlike a simple chatbot, the name needed to reflect a real presence. Something that stays in the background, takes things off your plate, and comes back with ideas built around what you actually need.
Importantly, Meta needed a name that could support the following vision: models that help you pursue your goals, create what you imagine, deepen your relationships, and take action on what you value most.
Solution
Lexicon created Muse — the divine source of inspiration. In Greek mythology, the Muses were the source of all creative knowledge. Artists, poets, and thinkers would begin their work by invoking the appropriate muse. A presence that knew their craft, understood their ambitions, and helped them create what they couldn’t yet see.
The mythology reference frames the relationship between people and AI as a creative partnership rather than a transactional tool. Muse doesn’t replace you. It sparks you. Meta describes Muse as an agent that “learns from conversations, reflects on what matters, and comes back with ideas built around what you need.”
The M creates a strong alliteration with Meta, offering a poetic and memorable rhythm. Processing fluency scored a perfect 10/10: one syllable, instantly recognizable across every language screened, impossible to mispronounce.
Results
Muse launched on September 8, 2026 as Meta’s personal AI agent. The Muse family now spans frontier models, open-weight releases, coding tools, voice transcription, and a consumer agent platform.
