Lexicon created the name Ardence for TRM Labs’ flagship AI investigation platform, built to help crimefighters disrupt AI-enabled crime at machine speed.

Problem

Crime has always found a way. But AI has given it a new advantage. One that is structural, not circumstantial.

TRM Labs had spent nearly a decade building the intelligence infrastructure crimefighters rely on — helping investigators follow the money across blockchain networks, disrupt ransomware operations, and take down networks trafficking in fraud, exploitation, and illicit finance. The problem wasn’t capability. It was capacity.

The brief for the new platform name reflected that. It needed to carry mission weight without sounding militaristic or defensive. The category was full of names built on surveillance and combat vocabulary that actively undermined the partner posture TRM had earned. It needed to appeal to the investigators, compliance professionals, and intelligence analysts who would use it daily.

Importantly, it needed to lead with strategic contradiction: say something the financial crime and security category is not expected to say.

Solution

Ardence draws from ardent, meaning passionate, energetic, and fully committed to a cause.

The name does something the category rarely attempts. It honors the people behind the platform rather than the threat it fights. Where competitors reach for detection language, Ardence reaches inward, toward the resolve of the investigators who use it. That distinction is not cosmetic. It reflects TRM’s own positioning: not a surveillance company, but a partner in a mission worth fighting for.

Structurally, Ardence earns its place. Two syllables, familiar roots, a smooth and distinctive rhythm. It avoids transparent security vocabulary while still feeling serious, intelligent, and investable. It carries conviction without aggression — confident enough for the boardroom, human enough for the field.

The name is also built to grow. As TRM expands beyond crypto into AI-native investigations, fraud, cybercrime, and national security, Ardence carries none of the category constraints that would limit that expansion.

Results

Ardence launched on October 13, 2026, bringing intelligence from more than 60 partner sources into a single AI-powered platform, that automates time-consuming workflows, and gives investigators the ability to share findings. Already in use across law enforcement, defense, and private sector organizations, Ardence has helped investigators scale World Cup security, disrupt AI-powered cybercrime services, and take down thousands of scam sites.

In announcing the platform, TRM described the people it was named for: “Today’s crimefighters are, in a word, ardent — passionate, energetic, and all in for the cause. That quality inspired the name Ardence.”

“Put simply, criminals are using AI to move at the speed of thought. With Ardence, crimefighters can, too.” – Esteban Castaño, CEO and Co-Founder, TRM Labs
